Mercedes-Benz CLK

The Mercedes-Benz CLK, which is built around the platform of the C-Class, designed with the E-Class in mind, and comes with a price tag in between the two, is in a class all its own with no clear rival from competing brands. Although the sales history of the CLK has been a tremendous success story, it will soon find itself shelved with the coming of the latest E-Class Coupe near the end of this year and the E-Class Cabrio next year.

Manufacture of the CLK has been halted to give room for the latest E-Class models, although the CLK will still be offered for sale until the E-Class Coupe arrives this year. On the other hand, the CLK Cabrio will continue production up to June this year after which it will follow the CLK's demise with the arrival of the latest E-Class Cabrio next year.

The production halt of the CLK will affect the production of the high-performance CLK AMG Black Series, which is patterned after the CLK Coupe. However, since there is a great following of the Black Series, there is a likelihood that AMG engineers will be making a new one. First introduced in 2003 and built in the Bremen plant of Mercedes-Benz, the CLK Coupe is currently in its second-generation.
