Mercedes-Benz CLS production comes to an end

2010 Mercedes-Benz CLS

Production of Mercedes-Benz's first generation CLS -- type C129 -- has ended. It will be replaced by the second generation type C218 in the Autumn after its debut at the Paris Motor Show this September. The last Mercedes-Benz CLS that rolled out was a black CLS550 with an AMG styling pack that's meant for a US customer. The first CLS was launched as a concept in 2003 at the Frankfurt motor show. It later went into production in 2004 and was offered with a range of V6 and V8 petrol engines as well as a V6 turbodiesel. In the six years that the CLS had been in production, Mercedes was able to sell over 170,000 units worldwide.
