Mercedes-Benz considering F1 exit

When BMW announced its withdrawal from Formula One a week ago, Mercedes-Benz, through its spokesman, had been quick to deny that it was considering a similar decision. A senior Daimler official however has revealed the issue is constantly the topic of debate within the Daimler boardroom. Daimler supervisory board member Helmut Lense, earlier this year, urged that the firm pull out of Formula One and pursue "more worthy projects." Reacting to BMW's decision not to continue participating in Formula One, Lense said Mercedes' future in the sport is again being highly debated. Mercedes currently supplies engines to three teams in Formula One (McLaren, Force India and Brawn GP) and is also a shareholder in McLaren. [via autocar]
