Global sales of Mercedes-Benz brand cars got a 12% boost in December with the high demand for luxury sedans such as the sleek new E-Class Coupe. Dieter Zetsche, Daimler CEO and head of the company's Mercedes-Benz cars division, said that the company anticipates "a slight increase" in vehicle sales for 2010 compared to last year. Mercedes-Benz marked the third consecutive month of gains last December.

Moreover, retail volumes increased by 12.4% to 97,700 vehicles. Mercedes ended the year having sold a little over 1.01 million vehicles. More than 20% of that volume can be attributed to the E-Class model family, which also includes the station wagon version. For 2010, Mercedes-Benz expects that sales will rise with the release of the full range of E-Cass body styles. Customers can start ordering the convertible version beginning next week.
