Mercedes-Benz's arm in India anticipates double-digit sales growth in 2010 compared to 2009 as it prepares a new range of products to be launched in Asia's fourth-largest auto market, chief executive Wilfried Aulbur said. Mercedes-Benz recently launched two new models and it was during this event that Aulbur had a chance to talk to reporters about the company.
The Daimler AG subsidiary's sales dropped slightly, with 3,220 cars sold in India in 2009 (3,250 cars were sold in 2008). More models will be launched on Tuesday at the India Auto Expo in the capital city of New Delhi. The carmaker expects that sales will improve and will be fueled with the display at India's Auto Expo from Jan. 5 to 11. Mercedes-Benz India Ltd, fully owned by Daimler, had been making cars and trucks in India since 1994. Initially, it had been a joint venture with the country's largest vehicle maker, Tata Motors Ltd.
