Mercedes-Benz A-Class Special Edition

The Mercedes-Benz A-Class, which is set for a total reworking in a year or two, and likely to be replaced by an entirely new range of compact cars, is being refreshed by the carmaker with a 5,500 unit special edition to see to it that sales will reach the end of its production run. Utilizing practical A-Class origins masked by a façade of elegance, sportiveness and highlights, the Special Edition provides European customers with a harmony of well-appointed accommodation and affordable mobility. The main elements of the Special Edition in contrast to the regular A-Class consists of unique black radiator louvers, 16 inch titanium-silver alloys with a fresh 9-spoke configuration, and a Special Edition badge on the mirror triangle. The exterior comes with standard options including free fog lamps and a selection of metallic paint finish. The Special Edition receives a two-tone black and grey color scheme for its interior, as well as upgrade glossy black trim and velour floor mats embroidered in black. The multifunction steering wheel, shift lever and parking brake handle are all covered in leather, and also included is a Bluetooth hands-free system. With all these extra options Mercedes claims that there is a 36 percent price advantage compared to a non-Special Edition model. Power under the hood for the Special Edition is the efficient 160 CDI BlueEfficiency engine that can produce 82hp (60kW) and come with a fuel economy rating of 56.2mpg US (4.6 liter per 100km). All in all, over its entire model run, the A-Class has already sold in excess of 1.8 million units.
