Mercedes-Benz sold 100,500 vehicles in October, standing for a 13.6% increase – its 12th consecutive month of double-digit growth in volumes. The Daimler AG luxury car brand said last Friday that China is still the single fastest-growing market for the brand but that Germany sales rose disproportionately faster than in other parts of the globe. Mercedes sales chief Joachim Schmidt gave a statement, indicating that its accomplishment in Germany “played a major role in this development.” He said that the brand reached a market share of 11.1%, the highest level since October 2008. A little over 25% of all Mercedes sales last month came from Germany. US accounted for 18% while China had 13%.
Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Cars: “We got the fourth quarter off to a successful start with a strong increase in sales. October marked the twelfth time in a row that we were able to record double-digit sales growth. Our success in Germany played a major role in this development. We attained a market share of 11.1 percent here, representing the highest level since October 2008. Worldwide, we want sales of Mercedes-Benz to record at least ten percent growth for 2010.”
