Mercedes-Benz now has a new trim structure consisting of Executive SE, AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus models to enhance the appeal of its C-class range. It is also available with a more efficient BlueEfficiency petrol engine. The entry-level Executive SE spec is offered with just saloon and estate C-class models and comes with a set of 16-inch alloys, a ‘sports grille’ and LED daytime running lights. The Luxury Package can be used on the model on top of the Executive SE spec. The Luxury Package, which costs £2000, replaces the Elegance trim of the old car. It features a set of 17-inch alloys and chrome accents to the model’s exterior, as well as the automaker’s three-louvre grille and brown ash wood interior.
All C-class models, which include the coupé version, are offered with AMG Sport and AMG Sport Plus (the two new additions to the C-class lineup). AMG Sport cars are equipped with a set of 17-inch AMG alloy wheels, as well as halogen headlights as standard equipment. Meanwhile, AMG Sport Plus models (which are available with a £1000 premium) come with 18-inch bi-colour AMG alloys and an AMG boot spoiler. The interior of the AMG Sport Plus receives AMG sports seats with contrasting red stitching, red seatbelts and red-piped AMG floor mats. A £530 AMG Handling Pack is exclusively available for the coupé model. This package enhances steering, engine and throttle responses of the model.
The power of the new 1.6-litre turbocharged BlueEfficiency petrol engine at 152bhp is slightly lower than the previous model's output at 156bhp. However, its 184lb ft torque between 1250 and 4000rpm is unchanged. When the new C180 BlueEfficiency engine is fitted to the C-class saloon, it could have a fuel efficiency rating of 47.9mpg and have CO2 emissions of just 138g/km of CO2. It previously had a fuel economy rating of 42.2mpg and CO2 emissions of 162g/km.
