MG preparing entry-level TF convertible

MG TF LE500The English firm MG UK is about to introduce its latest entry-level version of the UK-built TF convertible this summer with a price tag of Ôø°13,500, cheaper than the current MG TF LE 500 model by about Ôø°2,500. Power under the hood for the car will be a modernized version of the 1.8-liter 16v K-series powerplant which produces a maximum of 135bhp. Also currently in the works is the latest 85th Anniversary model of the TF. It will be distinguished by its improved suspension and customized trim and wheels and will come with a Ôø°15,750 price tag. Enthusiasts were treated to a showcase of the two models late last month at the Royal Windsor MG Heritage Festival. Reports thereafter emerged saying that both MG dealers and MG UK will try to boost the profile of the resurrected brand with fresh advertising campaigns together with the two cars. There were also suggestions that the latest MG6 hatch and saloon versions, which were unwrapped last month at the Shanghai motor show, could hit UK markets this summer at the earliest. A decision will soon be reached whether the cars will be assembled at Longbridge or imported from the Chinese factory in Nanjing as a completed car. [via autocar]
