According to our inside sources, it appears that the new MINI Countryman WRC will be revealed to the public in September, at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. For those who are new to this, we will remind them that back in July, MINI announced that it will make its comeback in the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC), for few races in 2011 and for the entire season in 2012.
The car will be developed by Prodrive in close cooperation with MINI and will be powered by a 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbo-charged engine from BMW Motorsport which complies with the new Super2000 regulations put in place by the International Automobile Federation (FIA), which stipulate the use of "turbo engines with 1,600 cc displacement and four-wheel drive combined with an increased emphasis on road relevant technologies".
