Mini Crossover production version coming in 2011

Mini Crossover Concept

The reception of the MINI Crossover Concept at the Paris Motor Show was so encouraging that, just after four weeks after it debuted, BMW approved the venture for production in 2011. The factory variant of the MINI CUV is set to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show this coming September, which is within the timeframe for initial forecasts. Absent from the production version are the trick rear doors or the side-hinged driver's side portal of the concept model. Instead, the car will come with the regular front-hinged openings and a regular tailgate. Available also is a four-wheel-drive system option. The MINI will keep the brand's characteristic kart-like handling, even with sufficient ground clearance and beefy rolling stock that is compulsory on a car with plans for off-road driving. The MINI won't be cheap at $29,000 base price. Of course, with the available options, that amount is just a starting point for those who plan on customizing the MINI.
