Mini Moke Concept to make its debut at the Detroit Auto Show

Details about MINI's latest concept car are becoming known as the Detroit Auto Show nears. It has been known for several months now that MINI is set to release a R60 based "Moke" concept that's anticipated to lead to a production version. Moke, which will have a more rugged off-road look, will feature MINI's upcoming ALL4 AWD system that will be optional on the R60 Countryman.
If the concept is well received, production could begin in either 2012 or 2013 with the drivetrain and most of the interior being carried over from the R60. How MINI has leveraged the R57 platform for the Coupe and Roadster models would give an idea of how the Moke would appear. The Moke is intended to look more authentic and have off-road capabilities in the same way the Coupe was made more capable on-road. Expect for an interior similar to an original Moke, meaning that it will be stripped down and have some type of open top aspect to it. [via motoringfile]
