While MINI considers whether to build a smaller model to sit below the Cooper hard-top in the current lineup, it will unveil a new city-car concept at the Geneva Motor Show next week. Reports indicate that the car will be a 3 +1 layout, designed along the lines of the Toyota iQ. It is expected to be about half-way between the current Cooper and the original Mini in terms of overall size. To keep the weight at its lowest, MINI makes use of light weight materials. Because of the rising popularity of the MINI brand, it’s not difficult to imagine that this concept will enter production in the future. But U.S. enthusiasts shouldn’t rejoice just yet as MINI U.S.A. boss Jim McDowell said in a recent interview with AutoGuide that no smaller or larger MINIs will be going to the U.S. [via Carscoop]
