Mitsubishi introduces its new i-MiEV at the Frankfurt airport
Fraport AG, the owner of the Frankfurt Airport, received two new-generation electric vehicles i-MiEV from Mitsubishi Motors Deutschland, the German distributor for Mitsubishi vehicles. The hand-over ceremony was conducted on August 18. Dr. Stefan Schulte, Deputy Chairman of Fraport AG said that “i-MiEV’s evaluation at Frankfurt Airport marks a further milestone in Fraport’s sustainability strategy.”
The car’s features are regarded to be in line with the Frankfurt airport’s emphasis on the reduction of CO2 emissions, electric mobility, and better energy efficiency of the terminals and other buildings. He added that pure EVs with a range of up to 160km are ideal for use for short range airport traffic. The third largest airport in Europe and the largest in Germany, Frankfurt Airport operates around 3,000 vehicles and plans to incorporate eco-friendly vehicles into its fleet. Fraport AG also plans to increase the share of EV vehicles in its fleet to 20% by 2015 and by more than 60% from 2020 onwards. Photo gallery after the jump!
