This July, the Chinese market will receive an enhanced version of the Lancer 1.8L model, which was produced by the Soueast-Mitsubishi, a 50:50 joint venture between South East Motor (SEM) and Mitsubishi Motors. An insider from the joint venture said that this new model will be priced similarly to the current model's. So far, there are no plans to launch the 2.0L model.

The new model is equipped with an imported all-aluminum engine with a maximum power of 112Kw/6000rpm and a peak torque of 197Nm/4250rpm. It also has a 3-spoke steering wheel, with audio control buttons and cruise control.

Furthermore, the new model is fitted with a sports roof spoiler, which can effectively reduce drag coefficient for high wind speed. The sports package for the overall body and tail has been taken out from the new model. Many revisions were made to the interior, which is expected to be all black. This vehicle will also have the steering wheel shift picks as well as other equipment.
