Mitsubishi to bring forward the introduction of its new compact SUV

Mitsubishi RVR

Aiming to take advantage of improving sales of compact cars in Japan, Mitsubishi's new compact SUV will be launched next February rather than in May. This new car is based on the Concept cX from the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show and is set to rival Nissan's Qashqai. The production version of the cX (the new name is still under wraps) will use the Lancer platform and come with petrol and diesel options, from 1.8 to 2.2 liters. An Evo-style SST dual-clutch 'box and four-wheel drive will also be available. Mitsubishi will unveil a plug-in hybrid system in a fresh SUV concept at October's Tokyo show that it intends to install on the next Outlander. The carmaker insists however that it has no plans for a hybrid cX. After Japan, the launching in Europe will follow soon after.
