Mitsubishi's Ralliart motorsports operations will be permanently closed in 2010. Mitsubishi has long been known for its motorsport activities, particularly with rally racing. In fact, the Japanese carmaker develops and produces performance parts for vehicles like the Lancer Evolution. A year after Mitsubishi was established in 1984, the Ralliart name was licensed for use throughout various world markets. The remaining 11 affiliated licensed companies will continue to make Ralliart-badged vehicles. A source from Mitsubishi said that the US will continue to offer Ralliart-badged models, like the turbocharged Lancer Ralliart. The closure of Ralliart is said to be caused by the poor economic climate.
