Mitsubishi Motors North America sold 4,306 units in November 2010, standing for a 47% increase compared to the same month last year. This percentage is the highest year-on-year increase that Mitsubishi has had for a single month in more than a decade. Driving sales up is the new Outlander Sport compact SUV, which marks its full month of sales last November. MMNA President & CEO Shin Kurihara said that their sales team and dealers were excited about the new Outlander Sport since “customers responded in a big way."
He said that the showroom visits translated into sales increases for the Outlander and its other vehicles. Sales of the Outlander SUV rose 64% year-on-year and 23% for the year-to-date. Meanwhile, sales of the Endeavor climbed by 329% and over 34% for the year. Galant sales increased by nearly 4% compared to the same month last year, and are up 6.6% year-to-date. Sales of the Lancer Evolution went up 46% in November.
Mitsubishi sales have increased 2.4% for the year-to-date. An innovative marketing program, Mitsubishi Live Drive, the World's First Online Test Drive of an actual vehicle using interactive remote control, was used to launch the Outlander Sport. About 52,000 consumers registered at outlandersport.com to get involved in this program that transpired on November 1 to 10, 2010.
