The ongoing global crisis has hit rally racing the hardest of all the major motorsports, but this doesn't mean that it is out of the game. Unveiled today by MML Sports is the Group N Mitsubishi Evolution X rally car set to compete in the World Rally Championship Production category. According to the firm the creation of the MML Evo X was, in varied ways, an experiment because not many of the essential upgrade and modification elements are offered in the aftermarket since the Evo X is fairly new.
This points to the fact that much of the car is individually made by MML in-house, including the fuel tank and roll cage. According to the specifications of the Group N, the 4B11 powerplant and regular suspension setup remain untouched. However, springs and dampers were upgraded together with BOS dampers.
The center differential and engine mapping are where Group N is given free reign and MML has installed a MOTEC control system to optimize output and performance, although the exact details concerning them have not yet been released. Estimates put its power output between 118-136mph (190-220km/h) contingent on the chosen gear set.
