Mopar announces JK-8 pickup truck kit for Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

Jeep Wrangler JK-8 Independence

Mopar is offering a kit for the four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that transforms it into a two-door pickup truck. The Mopar JK-8 kit has an MSRP of $5,499 and could be ordered through Mopar at Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Ram dealerships. The kit is available with a three-year/36,000-mile warranty that covers kit materials and workmanship done at a Chrysler Group dealership. Before the JK-8 kit was presented, Mopar unveiled its many industry-first features such as in-vehicle Wi-Fi, off-road camper trailers, vehicle-information apps and an Electronic Vehicle Tracking System (EVTS).

Mopar had recently launched its Ram Runner off-road desert-racer kit. The JK-8 kit was first shown at the Moab Jeep Safari this year. The kit gets cues from the Jeep Scrambler CJ-8 from the 80s. Its major components include a roomy 44-inch by 50-inch steel bed, inner and outer bedsides made from stamped sheet metal, sport bar extensions, Freedom Panel assemblies, a removable fiberglass hardtop with a sliding rear window, two fixed side windows and a fiberglass bulkhead.

The JK-8 kit remains true to the Jeep brand as it provides Jeep Wrangler Unlimited capability in the figure of a mini pickup. Furthermore, the top could be totally removed if you prefer driving in the open air. On the left rear quarter panel of each kit, there is a special badge that symbolizes the heritage of the Jeep Scrambler CJ-8, together with design bits that were inspired by the original J-8 military Jeep pickups.
