More details of the Bmw Concept 5-Series GT
It is claimed that the Concept 5-Series Gran Turismo shown by BMW at the Geneva Motor Show is more than 90 percent completed. The concept will be revealed in its production spec in September at the Frankfurt Auto Show prior to its sale in the UK the following month. It will have a sticker price beginning at $60,000 range.
The 5-Series Gran Turismo will arrive ahead of the 5-Series Saloon and Touring which will both arrive early next year. It has been confirmed by BMW that the GT will be a niche vehicle, but not as much as the X6 SUV which sells 1,000 vehicles annually in the UK. BMW though hopes to be selling in the UK between 2,000-2,500 GTs, although most of the cars will be vended in US markets. The GT, which is based on the BMW’s L6 chassis, is the second longest BMW at 4.9 meters second only to the 5.072 meters of the 7-Series. It will come with a 6-cylinder twin-turbo 3.0-liter gasoline and 3.0-liter diesel powerplants with a range-topping 4.4-liter V8 from opening. It will be equipped with automatic gearboxes and RWD as standard, but DCT and AWD will possibly also be added to the lineup. Currently being developed and will arrive in the UK is the 5-Series GT ActiveHybrid. The highly niche X6 will not be available in the UK but will only come in left-hand drives. Regular interior and exterior trim options will be offered on the 5-Series GT, with the ‘fluid cuprite’ surface color of the concept vehicle possibly offered on demand. Wheels that will come with the car are 19 or 20-inch with optional 21-inch variants. Photo gallery after the jump!
