More details of the upcoming Land Rover LRX
To aid it develop the new LRX the government will be providing Land Rover with a grant amounting to £27 million. It has been admitted by the carmaker that the three-door concept will be transformed into a five-door mini-Range Rover with advanced orders will be received beginning late next year.
It looks like that taxpayers will be investing £27 million in the venture to ensure that the car will be ultimately manufactured at the Halewood plant of Jaguar Land Rover which is where the Freelander is also produced. This move makes a lot of sense since the LRX production car will be sharing many of Freelander’s parts. The production of the LRX will guarantee employment at the Halewood auto factory and keep the design capability for Jaguar Land Rover in the UK. The carmaker welcomes the government aid as it demonstrates that it will be focused on the long haul. Photo gallery after the jump!
