Designer Gordon Murray is seeking to get his new city car, the T25, built in the UK. Compared to rivals, the Smart Fortwo and the Toyota iQ, the T25 boasts of more interior space. It has a three-seater design with the driver placed in the center and in the front of the car.
He will be flanked by two passengers at the back on either side. If just the driver is aboard, the passenger space can be used for storage. Measured at 2.4-meter long, 1.25-meter wide, the T25 will offer 750 liters of luggage capacity. The central driving position called the iCentre is vital to the amount of space in the T25. To maximize interior dimensions, the 660cc engine was rear-mounted and the battery and fuel tank were positioned under the floor. To avoid any access difficulties, the T25 has two doors: a hatch at the rear and a side-hinged door at the front of the car that allows entry to the passenger compartment in the style of the Isetta bubble car. Murray said that a finished body prototype will be running within a month. Murray aims to get the car into production within 24 months however, his company will not build the T25; instead, he will license the production process. He is in talks with several interested parties in the UK that he described as “making good progress.”
