Organizers of the 2014 Renault UK Clio Cup have confirmed that 15 of the latest generation turbo-charged racing Clio are ready to compete in the flagship British category. Organizers also expect more cars to join before the first event of the season. With just three months to go, the Clio is expected to become more popular as existing and new driver-owners and teams continue to place orders for the vehicle.

The latest driver to acquire a new Clio is category race winner Lee Pattison, joining Masters Cup stalwart Finlay Crocker, the first contestant from the Renault UK Clio Cup to take delivery of one of the new Renault Clios. Reigning champ Team Pyro has acquired five new Clios for its Renault UK Clio Cup participation.

SV Racing, formerly Scuderia Vittoria, has acquired two cars while 20Ten Racing has purchased three of the 2014 Clio units. Race stalwarts Total Control Racing and JHR Developments have each purchased one car. DRM Motorsport has also acquired a Clio for motorsport returnee, Daniel Rowbottom, who has already begun testing his new car.

“We’re delighted we have 15 new Clios ready to race in this year’s Renault UK Clio Cup, it’s a very strong and pleasing start as we prepare for the 2014 season”, remarked Jeremy Townsend, Renault UK Communications Director. He said that Renault will be showcasing the new Clio on the British Automobile Racing Club stand at Autosport International next week, hoping to get more orders. [source: Renaultsport]
