Images of Force India’s 2011-spec car, the VJM04, were shown in an online event earlier this week – the last Formula 1 team to unveil its challenger. These photos come from a Force India photo shoot, so the media has yet to fully inspect the vehicle.
But from these images, it’s clear that like most of its rivals in 2011, the car has a high nose design, a reworked sidepod area and a new rear section. It also comes with a blade-style roll hoop design and a new front wing concept.
Adrian Sutil and newcomer Paul di Resta will get behind the wheel of the new VJM04 at the F1 race. Di Resta is the replacement of Vitantonio Liuzzi in the team's lineup. In addition, the 2011 F1 campaign will have Nico Hulkenberg as its Friday driver.
The Silverstone based team may have been the last to launch its 2011 challenger but it won’t be the last team this week in Jerez, when the second group test of the off-season kicks off on Thursday. On the first test on January, in Valencia, all Force India drivers had the chance to drive the 2010-spec VJM03.
The first to drive the new VJM04 in Jerez is Adrian Sutil. The next day, it will be Paul di Resta’s turn. Beginning with the Jerez test this week, there will be 12 days of testing before the 2011 F1 season officially starts (Jerez – 4, Barcelona – 4 and Bahrain – 4). It will be split like this between the 2 Force India drivers. It’s still unclear if Hulkenberg will get any track time in the VJM04 before the Bahrain GP Friday practice session.
