Natural-gas powered Mercedes-Benz B-Class considered for the U.S.

For several years now Mercedes-Benz has been vending B-Class cars that run or either natural gas or gasoline, but the Washington Auto Show this week will be the first the car will be seen. There was a conference for green cars before the auto show where the leading minds of the automotive industry said that it is not only the electric hybrid that is a legitimate alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles as there are also others that needed to be considered. Majority of the green car conference participants argued against the government's action in pressuring the Detroit Big 3 into producing electric hybrids since there are other alternative fuels available.
Natural gas, for example, which is abundant in the US, burns extremely clean and has been proven to be a potent vehicle powering agent is a point in view. Producing highly expensive hybrids in view of this might prove to be economically unwise. There have been natural gas-powered vehicles for many years, however majority of these are sold to companies with their own private natural-gas refueling stations.
Honda has the Civic GX and Roush also builds natural-gas powered F150's and F250's just to state a few. Natural gas is, it seems, the best solution to gasoline at the moment as the dependence on foreign oil decreases. Mercedes confirmed the fact that it is interested in testing the market for a natural-gas powered vehicle.
