7-Series sedan, correspondingly, both of which were unveiled recently. The current X1, as seen from available photos is obviously faithful to the general lines of the X1 Concept model which was exhibited at the Paris Motor Show the previous year. It will be using in combination the components of the 1-series and 3-series, and will feature the carmaker's X-drive AWD system. Other components will be shared from the Mini to save the company additional development costs. The X1 however will be clearly bigger than the Mini. The X1 range will include two base models designated as the xDrivel8i and the xDrive23d, and close at their heels is an xDrive20d that comes with 177hp (130kW), an acceleration rate of 8.4 seconds from 0-60mph and a 40mpg fuel consumption or 5.8 liters/100km. Furthermore, an xDrive23d that comes with 204hp (150kW) and an acceleration rate of 7.3 seconds from standstill to 60mph. The top of the range goes to an xDrive28i model. BMW expects production volume in the neighborhood of 100,000 units and a new facility in Leipzig in the middle of 2009. The price tag for the X1 is estimated to be around $30,000.
