New details of the new McLaren supercar revealed

McLaren P11 SupercarWhen the McLaren F1 first came on stage it almost instantly hit the summit of car performance, bringing home the honor of the world‚ fastest production vehicle in 1994 up to 2005. Making a challenger to the original F1 was not always an easy challenge. Although the original F1 raced against the best supercars of its era, such as the Ferrari F40, Jaguar XK220, and Porsche 959, the F1 successor will be contending with the more ‚Äòentry level‚Äô supercars, such as the Ferrari F430 and Lamborghini Gallardo, and as such it will be consequently priced. The test models for the new version, which presently utilizes its ‚ÄòP11‚Äô project designation, have been observed in the UK recently, showing a flowing body not too different from the first F1. It will highlight a mid-engine design, a high squared-off end, short overhangs, and narrowed back headlights.
The F1 is expected to be equipped with an advanced carbon-composite chassis, a fast F1-style paddle shift gearbox and brakes made of carbon-ceramics. Although the partnership between Mercedes and McLaren will come to a close soon, the German car manufacturer will provide its 6.2-liter AMG V8 engine. It is reported by AutoExpress that McLaren will put in a pair of turbochargers to the V8 for a more powerful output of about 600hp (400kW). With a weight of 1,250 kg, minus passengers and luggage, the new P11 should effortlessly accelerate from 0-100kph in less than 4 seconds and reach a ceiling speed of 320kph.
