New details of the next-generation Vw Passat

The next generation Passat of Volkswagen is expected to raise the stakes against the luxury carmakers of Germany, with the developers of the vehicle hoping it will be referred to in the same instance as the Bmw 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class and Audi A4. A substitute for the VR6 engine will be in place under the hood, producing almost 300 hp (224 kW) from a displacement of 3.0-liters. To enhance mileage and maintain potency, the fresh engine will also be utilizing direct injection, and the next models of the Passat range are anticipated to employ some form of forced induction also. One of the versions will be a hybrid model too, and there is an anticipated 300hp (224kW) diesel variant all-wheel-drive and an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. To offer the Passat some much needed flair, VW will be removing all the stops to make the next-generation a technological showcase, with elements that should have the typical German carmakers looking a bit anxious.
