Hyundai's replacement for the Coupe, a compact 2+2, will start selling early next year. The Coupe, which make its debut in Europe at the Paris Motor Show in October, is intended to rival the VW Scirocco. However, the Coupe has the advantage of costing several thousands of pounds less. Autocar reported that it saw the new Coupe on a trip to Hyundai's Namyang R&D center in Korea.
It appears quite short, with a long and flat-looking rear deck, but other than that, can be mistaken for the 2007 Veloster concept. Insider sources hint that the Coupe will feature an asymmetric body, with two doors on the left-hand side of the car to allow easy entry to the rear of the cabin from the kerb.
In addition, the car will have a conventional hatchback. The Coupe is powered by Hyundai's latest 1.6-liter, direct-injection Theta engine. In the entry-level trim version, the Coupe will have 140bhp, and an optional twin-clutch gearbox. A 200bhp 1.6-liter turbo variant will arrive after the launch.
