Fans of the Nissan Micra will be ecstatic to know that the new model will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show this March and that it will have two more variants, according to company insiders. The first versions of the new supermini are expected to arrive in May in India, where the car is manufactured at an all-new factory based in Chenai. A saloon version will be launched a year later. However, it is unlikely to make it to the UK. Furthermore, a mini-MPV that has many of the same mechanicals and built on the new V (versatile) platform will appear in 2012. There are also reports gathered by Autocar from insider sources stating that the next generation Renault Clio will be based on the V-platform and could be built in India too. This is a move is seen to upset fiercely patriotic French buyers. Other Renaults that are set to be produced in India include the Koleos soft-roader (currently built at the company's Samsung factory in South Korea) and a version of the forthcoming Fluence saloon. Both of these models are likely to be destined for Asian markets only. [via autocar]
