Land Rover introduced the new Discovery 4 (LR4) HSE Luxury Limited Edition at the New York Auto Show. As its name says it, the new edition was built in order to turn heads and features a distinctive exterior look showing silver finishing picks which complement the Noble (satin chrome) plated door mirror caps, silver bonnet script and tailgate badge.
The front grille was also updated and now the grille surround and fender vents are finished in Indus Silver while the grille vanes are finished in body colour. The rear end now features a bright finisher along the sides and tailgate, completed by a stainless steel bumper tread strip but also by the unique metal badge showcasing 'HSE LUXURY'. Furthermore, the door handles are now in body colour, while the design is completed by new 20-inch, 10-spoke alloy wheels. Three new body colours are available: Santorini Black, Orkney Grey and Havana, offered for the first time on the Discovery 4.
Inside, the Discovery 4 HSE Luxury Limited Edition features Premium Windsor Leather, but also a new colour inspired by the Range Rover, the Arabica. The Premium Windsor Leather will also be found on the fascia top, instrument panel binnacle, door top rolls, armrests and pull, while the perforated leather heated steering wheel is finished in Arabica or Ebony.
The design of the interior is completed by the new Dark Zebrano (lacquered dark brown wood) veneer and twist pile luxury carpet mats with contrast edging. Still, Land Rover will offer plenty of upgrades, such as Harman/Kardon LOGIC7 Premium Audio system and Xenon Adaptive Front Headlamps including Cornering Lamps.
Under the hood we find the 211PS 3.0 LR-TDV6 and 256PS SDV6 diesel engines, capable to push the Discovery 4 from 0 to 60 mph in 9.9 seconds and 8.8 seconds respectively and to a top speed of 112mph (180kph) in both cases. Bot engines are mated to the super-efficient ZF HP70 8-speed automatic transmission.
For those who want even more, the Land Rover Discovery 4 Limited Edition can be fitted with the 375PS 5.0 LR-V8, providing acceleration to 60mph from rest in just 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 121mph. The V8 engine is mated to the ZF HP28 6-speed automatic transmission. European customers will receive the 245PS version of the 3.0 LR-SDV6, equipped with 6-speed automatic transmission with command shift. The Land Rover Discovery 4 HSE Luxury will go on sale in the UK from July 2012 with prices starting at £56,995 on the road.
