BMW has unveiled its new 328d Sedan at the 2013 New York International Auto Show to pave way for the next rush of BMW Advanced Diesel models in the United States. The 328d will be powered by BMW’s 2.0-liter TwinPower diesel 4-cylinder engine that provides 180 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque that will be available from 1,750 rpm.
The engine in the 328d Sedan allows it to accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just over seven seconds. The engine will be paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 328d’s preliminary highway fuel economy figures are estimated to be at 45 mpg. The 328d Sedan will be available in rear wheel drive and also with BMW’s advanced all-wheel drive system, the xDrive.
The 328d rear-wheel drive and 328 xDrive will be offered alongside the 328d xDrive Sports Wagon. All three 328d versions are due in the US in fall of 2013 as 2014 models. BMW Advanced Diesel models have already demonstrated to enthusiasts in the US that diesel power is well suited to The Ultimate Driving Machine.
The introduction of 2.0-liter TwinPower diesel 4-cylinder engine in US will allow BMW Advanced Diesel models to offer outstanding levels of torque and fuel efficiency. The rear-wheel-drive 328d Sedan is estimated to have preliminary fuel economy figures of 32 mpg city/45 mpg highway/37 mpg combined.
BMW Advanced Diesel technology includes Selective Catalyst Reduction that allows the new 328d models to become true clean diesels. Just like the luxury levels that come with any other model in the BMW 3 Series, the 328d models will come with similar levels of standard equipment featured in the 328i gasoline models. Offered as options as Luxury, Sport and Modern Lines as well as M Sport.
