Scion said that the 2014 tC two-door model is built on a front-wheel-drive platform and that it’s likely to still be powered by a 180-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. The tC won’t get significant changes. It will receive several styling updates inside and out. So far, Toyota has revealed that the 2014 tC will make its debut on March 28 at its scheduled press conference held at the 2013 New York Auto Show.
The second-generation tC was displayed at the 2010 New York show as a 2011 model year vehicle. In 2012, the tC was the top-selling model of Scion, with a 3,000-lead over the No. 2 model, the xB.
Scion made an attempt to sustain the freshness of the tC with several limited-edition models. But sales have fallen since the more expensive but significantly more performance-oriented FR-S arrived in 2012.
For the first two months this year, tC sales have fallen by 15% as the FR-S has taken a small lead as Scion’s top-selling model.
The 2014 Scion tC find greater definition with a stronger style, beginning from the front end with distinctly new headlights and a new bonnet extending down to a wider, brawnier grille with a tC logo embedded in it. The all-new upper- and lower-grille are treated with borders of LED accents.
Under the back bumper, the new black-out valance has FR-S styling, lower-centre trim piece, and lowered perimeter reflectors. New innovative LED tail lights complete the look. New 18” alloy wheels with 225/45R18 tyres continue the strength through to the vehicle's silhouette. The standard wheels on the Scion tC feature a luxury dark-grey finish that contrast with attractive machined-spoke surfaces.
The Scion tC can be had in seven exterior colours, including two new ones: Absolutely Red and Blue Streak Metallic.
Improved Materials and Scion Standard Display Audio-Enhanced Interior
2014 Scion tC's cabin features new advances, added conveniences, and improved materials. The tC is the first vehicle in its range to come equipped with the new Scion Standard Display Audio that has a 6.1” LCD touch display.
The system will be integrated into all 2014 Scions, so that Scion will be the first non-premium automotive brand that comes with a touchscreen audio system standard across its entire range. The new audio system has features that Scion drivers will appreciate, such as Bluetooth compatibility, HD Radio Technology, and controls mounted on the steering wheel.
