Aston Martin has unveiled its all-new V8 Vantage GT at the New York Auto Show. It is powered by a front mid-mounted, 4.7-liter quad overhead cam V8 engine providing 430bhp of output at 7,300rpm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from zero to 60mph in just 4.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 190mph.
The heighten power and torque are thanks to a system in which the air intake system valve opens at engine speeds above 3,500rpm to enable greater air flow into the engine, thereby increasing power and optimizing performance feel. The increase power and torque were also thanks to the aggressive spark method that employs sophisticated electronics to ignite the fuel in at precisely the right time to enable the engine to run at its most powerful.
The method also recognizes higher octane fuel and extracts the optimum performance from the increased rating. The all-alloy dry-sump engine is mated to a sporty six-speed manual gearbox as standard or to a close-ratio seven-speed Sportshift II automated manual transmission as an option. It is complemented by a sports exhaust, GT-race proven aerodynamics, and a competition-derived braking system.
It is supported by a thoroughly calibrated sports suspension tune and quick-ratio steering rack. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT draws direct inspiration from the Vantage GT4 race car that will be competing across North America during the 2014 season. It features a dark-themed exterior package that includes graphite painted diamond-turned alloy wheels alongside black headlamp bezels, side window surrounds and textured tailpipe finishers.
It also features clear rear lamps with black surrounds. A Vantage GT customer could also avail of a series of attention-grabbing liveries with optional graphics packs. Available are exterior themes of Alloro Green, Jet Black, Skyfall Silver, Mariana Blue and Speedway White – all of which can be customized further with contrasting graphics adorning grille lipstick, mirror caps, A-pillar/cant rail and rear diffuser blade.
The Vantage GT boasts of new interior features like machined carbon sill plaques, black magnesium paddle-shifts or carbon fiber gearshift surround. It also features satin chrome rotaries, a leather or Alcantara steering wheel with contrasting on-center stitch feature.
Likewise, the vehicle features seat and door inserts in technical Plissè Alcantara and distinct seat trim patterns. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT is available in coupe or roadster form and will have a starting price of $99,900 RRP. First deliveries to customers in North America will commence in the third quarter.
