As you can remember, on Sunday, 4WheelsNews got the first images with the brand new 2011 Infiniti QX but today the new SUV was officially unveiled at this year's 2010 New York Auto Show. The 2011 Infiniti QX56 2WD will go on sale for $56,700 MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) while the Q56 4WD will carry a price tag of $59,800.
The new car carries a new 400 hp 5.6-liter V8 engine with Infiniti's VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) and Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) technologies.
According to the manufacturer, the new engine produces 25% more power and shows 10% increase in fuel efficiency comparing it to the current model. Also, a new 7-speed automatic transmission with manual shift mode and Downshift Rev Matching is available, replacing the previous 5-speed automatic. Also, the new car features Standard Around View Monitor, upgraded Bose Premium Audio System and Automatic Temperature Control System.
Regarding the advanced technology, the new 2011 Infiniti QX offers new Hydraulic Body Motion Control system, a Theater Package with dual 7-inch monitors, Advanced Climate Control System, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) and new Blind Spot Warning (BSW).
Other standard equipment includes the 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, power sliding moonroof, power rear liftgate, leather-appointed seating, power folding and reclining 3rd row seats, Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System, Streaming Audio via Bluetooth, Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic with Real-Time Traffic Information, XM NavWeather with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast (XM subscription required, sold separately) and Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide.
The 2011 Infiniti QX56 comes equipped with standard equipment like the power rear liftgate, power sliding moonroof, and the aluminum-alloy 20-inch wheels. For the interior, it is equipped with the leather-appointed seats with the 3rd row seats, which can recline.
Technological features that come standard are the Bluetooth Hands-free Phone System and the capacity for Streaming Audio via Bluetooth. There is also the Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with XM NavTraffic with Real-Time Traffic Information and XM NavWeather with Real-Time Weather and 3-day forecast though XM is separately sold and a subscription is needed.
A Zagat Survey Restaurant Guide is also part of its many features. The QX also provides a wide range of technology already available from Infiniti like its Hydraulic Body Motion Control system and the Advanced Climate Control System.
Safety features are also in the QX which includes the Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and its latest, the Blind Spot Warning (BSW). For entertainment, the QX offers a Theater Package that comes with 7-inch dual monitors.
Infiniti Business Unit vice-president Ben Poore shared that considering the new style of the interior and exterior plus the exciting collection of improved features, the QX is indeed a remarkable vehicle that comes in an impressive price.
The goal of the QX was to give a five-star travel experience while ensuring that it offers enough space for eight people and cargo with a towing capacity measured at 8,500 pounds, he added. Poore said that the QX sets new standards when it comes to a full-size SUV.
