The all-new 2014 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 AMG made its debut today at the New York Auto Show. As expected, the car is powered by the same engine found on the A45 AMG, the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivering 360 hp (265 kW) and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. With these numbers, the CLA 45 AMG is able to hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 4.6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h or 155 mph.
The engine is bolted to the AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, same found on the A 45 AMG. Thanks to this transmission, the CLA 45 AMG is able to deliver a fuel consumption level of 6.9 litres per 100 kilometres according to NEDC combined figures.
The CLA 45 AMG comes with variable, performance-oriented AMG 4MATIC all wheel drive as standard. The power flux to the rear powertrain is provided by a compact power take-off unit (PTU) which is fully integrated in the 7-speed sports transmission. In terms of design, the CLA 45 AMG resembles the CLS 63 AMG and according to Mercedes-Benz this is absolutely intentional.
Inside, the sporty theme is continued and the CLA 45 AMG comes with sports seats in Artico man-made leather/Dinamica microfiber with red contrasting topstitching, red seat belts and multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles.
The AMG Drive Unit and AMG door sill panels are offered as standard. The Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 will have its market launch in September. Pricing starts at 56.078 euros in Germany, including 19 percent VAT.
