Next-gen Audi A8 to be equipped with a handwriting recognition device

The next-gen Audi A8 will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show with a surprise up its sleeve. Audi A8 will be the first luxury car to be equipped with a handwriting recognition device as a standard feature. The input device will be a touchpad mounted on the center console. The touchpad, which is not a lot different from a typical modern laptop, is used instead of a complex array of switches and buttons on the center console stack. The result is that the driver's attention isn't taken from the road, much like Lexus's new haptic Remote Touch input system.
