The engineers over at Volkswagen are cutting the weight down from the Touareg in preparation for the 2010 release as a 2011 model of the SUV. VW engineers target cutting down between 500-600 pounds off the existing Touareg. In the interior, changes done include a slight overall length increase in order to accommodate third-row seating although they won't be fit for adults, especially in longer journeys. The smaller Tiguan has inspired some aspect of its styling. With the lower weight VW will be lowering the price tag for the next Touareg also. By 2012 a hybrid variant of the Touareg could be expected.
