Ford's third world car would be the next Mondeo, which is set to follow the Focus and Fiesta, according to sources who spoke with Autocar. People familiar with the matter have said that the designs for the new Mondeo are now nearing completion and that the finished car is expected to hit the showrooms in 2014. The model is expected to replace the European Mondeo and the US market Fusion.
The next Mondeo would be manufactured in Europe, the US and China, similar to the new Focus shown in the Detroit motor show. It's notable how the new Mondeo broke away and is now being designed and engineered in the US. The finished production car is expected to be sold globally with no design changes to satisfy local markets. Like the Focus and Fiesta, there will most likely be small chassis alterations to suit local driving conditions.
