Next Renault Laguna might become a crossover

2011 Renault Laguna

The format for the new Renault Laguna set to arrive within three years will determine if it will be offered in the UK. Renault had decided previously to remove the existing Laguna from the UK market. Obviously, if the new model is similar to it, then it won’t be brought to the UK as well. When interviewed by What Car?, Thierry Sybord (the UK boss of Renault) said that the company will decide within the next three months if a right-hand-drive version of the next Mondeo rival will be made.

He explained that if the next-gen Laguna is the same, it can’t possibly be successful in the UK. Sybord admitted that Renault is inspired by the success that the Nissan Qashqai has had.

Sybord also said there’s a plan to build a new type of car, likely to be a crossover. Sales of the Nissan Qashqai have been so high as consumers ignore traditional models like saloons and hatches in favor of an SUV bodystyle. [source: WhatCar]
