Nissan at the 79th Geneva International Motor Show

Nissan Logo

The show car Qazana, along with a lineup of Nissan's latest cars for the European market, will be on display at the 79th Geneva International Motor Show. The Qazana is a small crossover vehicle which is not what one would expect from a 5-door car. The highlight of the car's design are its large and broad wheel arches and a lower shape that provides a sense of toughness, while the upper body is active, aggressive and athletic. The rear doors of the Qazana open forwards much like the 'suicide doors' configuration.

It will strengthen Nissan's place as a crossover pioneer, founded on the successes of the Murano, Qashqai and the Qashqai +2 which was introduced just recently. A passenger variant of the upcoming NV200 lineup is set for its world debut. The NV200, intended to provide accessible and practical family transport, comes with three rows of seats, with sliding rear doors for quick access of the rear compartment.

The spacious interior has adaptable qualities that permit users to configure it to accommodate varying transportation needs and requirements. Capable of accommodating up to a maximum of seven passengers, the NV200 is flexible, comfortable and is essentially suited for large families. Two more versions, the Van and Combi, will be introduced later. Seen for the first time in Europe, the brand new Nissan Z-car has substituted the 350Z.

The 370Z comes with a larger variant of the VQ V6 powerplant, currently generating 331PS with a rear-wheel drive powered by a 6-speed manual gearbox available with a pioneering synchronized donw/up shift rev control system, or a brand new paddle-operated 7-speed automatic gearbox. With a shorter wheelbase and total length and lighter by 37kg, the 370Z is more nimble. The interior have been improved but the driving pleasure and character remains the same. Customers of the 370Z will receive their models by July.

Already popular in Japan, the Cube will be introduced in Europe for the very first time in November, where it is expected to receive equally popular response too. The Cube will attract European customers with its large and spacious interior. It will come with both a 106PS DPF-fitted 1.5-liter diesel engine and a 1.6-liter gasoline engine that can generate 111PS.

Pixo's value for money plus low emission and low fuel consumption is ripe for Nissan's lineup. The Pixo is propelled by a 3-cylinder 1.0-liter powerplant that generates only 103g/km of CO2 and fuel consumption figure reaching 4.41/100km (64.2 mpg) on the total cycle. These ratings, plus an automatic gearbox, will put Pixo on the list of the least expensive green cars in the diminutive city car class. The Pixo will be available this coming June.

The X-TRAIL Platinum will also be showing and will reinforce the X-TRAIL's strong qualities of comfort, practicality and active performance. On the exterior, the X-TRAIL is currently available with Scratch Shield Paint finish for protection against light stone chips and from damage usually experienced in car washes. The Platinum will also feature a set of 18-inch alloy rims, customized Bose premium audio system, and an auxiliary input plug for MP3 connections. Buyers will receive their X-TRAIL Platinum by March 2009.
