Nissan expanding U.K. production

In contrast to what other car makers are doing to cope up with the current economic crisis, that is, cutting on production and firing workers, Nissan is increasing production and adding manpower in its UK branch. Reports are saying that the carmaker from Japan will be hiring 150 new workers in the UK to assist it in raising production to cope with a growing market demand. This is the result of increased sales in previous months as buyers become more interested in Japanese-made cars.
The carmaker is also taking advantage of government incentives amounting to 2,000 pounds to cut price tags of greener models for customers who consent to exchange it with their old cars. No official figures are presently available and an accurate number of how many cars Nissan have sold due to these incentives cannot yet be determined. What is known is that in the fiscal year 2008 Nissan has sold a total of 3,411,000 cars around the world, a figure lower by 9.5 percent in contrast to last year. In spite of this, Nissan is experiencing initial signs of revitalization as shown by current reports, which is in contrast to its bleak forecast for this year.
