Nissan GT-R

One of the most expensive, if not the most expensive, cars to insure is the Nissan GT-R. The compilation made by Insure.com has shown that from a list of the most and least expensive cars to insure for this year, the GT-R stands at the top of the list of the most expensive cars. The GT-R, which is owned by a 40 y.o. man who travels about 12 miles to work daily, with a $100,000 policy limit for injury liability for a single person, $300,000 for all injuries, $50,000 for damage to property, and a $500 deductible on collision and comprehensive, can be insured annually for an average $2,540.

This high insurance price is due to the fact that users of these kinds of cars submit more frequent and more expensive insurance claims. Since no such data for first model year exists the insurance rate is based on the MSRP, and regarding the GT-R, it is $77,000.  Other insurance firms also take into consideration the car's power to weight ratios or acceleration rates especially with sports cars like the GT-R. The most expensive cars to insure for this year portion of the list is populated by sports cars.

Next to the GT-R comes the Viper from Dodge which requires an insurance of $2450, next is the BMW M6 with $2340and the Shelby GT500 by Ford which is insured at $2190. Now, at the bottom of the list, the least expensive position goes to the Hyundai Santa Fe midsize SUV which can be insured for only $832. This is due to a low MSRP, which is only $22,000, and it is rated above average for comprehensive losses, collision and personal injury protection insurance losses. It is followed closely by the Kia Sportage at $840, then by the Hyundai Entourage in third place with $848. The Smart Fortwo made it to the least expensive list due to the fact that, besides its appeal to an older generation, Mercedes has filled the small car with a host of safety elements, and, in cases of repairs, ships pre-painted body panels.
