The Nissan GT-R has garnered the 'Most Advanced Technology Award' in the Japanese Car of the Year (COTY) awards ceremony, held this weekend in Oiso, Japan. The small Toyota iQ was chosen favorite among the judges, winning the overall COTY award. For the Most Advanced Technology Award, the judges voted the GT-R for the reason that it generated "powerful performance and clean emission" levels. The board of judges was also captivated by the vehicle's sophisticated body construction merging carbon, aluminum and steel, in addition to its remarkable double-clutch transmission and the first in the world autonomous transaxle 4WD. Some of the features described consist of the steel unibody monocoque chassis, carbon-fiber front substructure and rear diffuser, all-aluminum front double-wishbone suspension, and the rear-mounted dual-clutch transmission.
