Nissan Juke-R
Nissan has confirmed the performance specs for the Juke-R -- the supercar crossover concept that integrates the bold design of Juke with the power and handling of the renowned GT-R. The Juke-R, which was created in the United Kingdom, was developed by Nissan. It is built by leading motorsports outfit RML with advice from Nissan Technical Centre Europe (NTC-E).
Two models have been developed over a 22-week duration -- a left-hand drive and a right-hand drive. Rigorous performance testing is now in the final stage of the development project. The Juke-R is equipped with 485bhp 3.8-litre V6 twin turbo engine, which enables the vehicle to run from 0 to 62mph (100kph) in only 3.7 seconds, with a top speed of 160mph (257kph).
The tests confirmed that the Juke-R enjoys supercar handling from a compact crossover due to its utilization of the Nissan GT-R's suspension and drivetrain, an FIA-specification roll cage and unique split rear wing. In a straight line, the more aerodynamic shape of the GT-R ensures that its top speed is higher even with the same power plant being fitted in each. Furthermore, the GT-R remains lighter compared to the Juke-R, thanks to the roll cage and extra chassis reinforcement needed to place the supercar's parts into a Juke body.
The physical dimensions of the Juke-R resemble the Juke more than the GT-R. Just like the Juke, the Juke-R is 4135mm long and 1575mm high. It has also the same wheelbase (2530mm) as the Juke. The width has been increased from 1765mm to 1910mm, with flared wheel arches going around the 20-inch RAYS forged alloy wheels.
For its interiors, the passenger and driver sit in OMP race seats. It has all the instruments and controls from the GT-R at their fingertips. In the center of the dashboard is the 7-inch touch-screen display, providing access to a variety of information about the vehicle to which any GT-R owner has come to expect.
