Nissan is turning to social media to promote its new 370Z. Fans will get the opportunity to submit customization options for the new coupe and then vote on the entries. Jon Brancheau, vice president of Nissan North America marketing, said that car companies build project vehicles all the time but then they thought that it would be of some interest to exploit social media’s power to reach out to Z enthusiasts. Nissan will build Project 370Z in stages: power, handling/brakes, interior and exterior.
If you would want to make any type of comment or post about what you hope to see on a custom Z, just go to facebook.com/nissanperformance. Nissan is urging fans to participate in each phase of the job. This will culminate at the ZDayZ event this May. Several Z events have been scheduled throughout the country aside from ZDayZ. It is set to take place from May 17 to 20 in the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee, including the Tail of the Dragon, a famous storied stretch of road. The Project 370Z car will be displayed at many events this year, such as the ZCon 2012 and the 2012 SEMA show in Las Vegas.
“Car companies build project vehicles all the time, but we thought it’d be interesting to harness the power of social media to reach out to Z enthusiasts – the people who are doing this to their own cars everyday,” said Jon Brancheau, vice president, Nissan Marketing, NNA. “Together we’ll create a vehicle that expands on the already outstanding performance and style of the Nissan 370Z with a balance of street and track ready modifications. Then we’ll share the finished project at upcoming Z car enthusiast gatherings around the country.”
