Nissan modifies GT-R’s launch control system

The Japanese carmaker Nissan has improved its Model Year 2009 GT-R by integrating the programming of its Model Year 2010 to optimize clutch engagement control for enhanced driving. Said upgrade also enhances the cars acceleration with the Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) activated. This upgrade will be offered by Nissan to MY 2009 GT-R with no additional cost as it has already integrated this programming into the GT-Rs in its inventory in the US and will, from then on, continue to ship those cars to outlets.
The guide in installing this upgrade for the MY 2009 GT-R will soon be made available. The upgrade is intended to improve driving and acceleration performance with the VDC ON (which the warranty requires). With the VDC ON standing acceleration will be enhanced in contrast to the original model year performance while the same acceleration with the VDC OFF will be moderated.
On regular driving VDC should be in the ON position to avoid damage and VDC will only be turned OFF or deactivated in cases where the car is stuck in mud or snow. Launching the car in normal driving circumstances with the VDC OFF will result in damage to the transaxle and such damage in such a setup is not covered under Nissan's New Car Limited Warranty. A Technical Service Bulletin is forthcoming which will explain how this spec is to be implemented for all remaining 2009 GT-Rs.
