Nissan moving Infiniti QX56 production to Japan

There are rumors circulating that the production of Nissan's Infiniti QX56 SUV will be transferred from the Mississippi plant to the Nissan Shatai Co.'s Kyushu plant in Japan next year. However, Nissan has yet to confirm the report provided by Nikkei business daily. It is likely that Nissan made the transfer to save costs from the US production as well as to benefit from the cheaper labor in the domestic market. In the US, the QX56 comes in either two- or four-wheel drive configurations. Both are equipped with the same 320 horsepower 5.6-liter DOHC V8 and make use of the same 5-speed automatic transmission. Standard features for the QX56 SUV include leather seats, a Hard Drive Navigation System with a seven-inch LCD screen, satellite radio, NAV Traffic (real time traffic information-available only by subscription), a 12-speaker Bose audio system and a 9.3 GB Music Box hard drive. MSRP for the 2-wheel drive version starts at $56,050, while the all-wheel drive version starts at $59,150.
