Nissan Nismo 370Z makes its debut at the New York Auto Show
An all new Nismo-enhanced 370Z will be launched by Nissan this coming June highlighting a more potent variant of the regular 3.7-liter V6 unit and a skew of external and performance revisions. Following the limited production Nismo 350Z debuted two years previously, the latest 370Z variant comes with a 350hp (261kW) power yield, exterior and interior styling that’s inspired by racing and a uniquely tuned suspension and Rays lightweight 19in forged alloys.
Derived from the Japanese S-Tune model, the 370Z was designed in the US in partnership with Autech, a Japanese tuner. The car is available in one totally complete model, with no options, with a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission along with the SynchroRev Match feature which controls automatically and adapts powerplant speed of the next gear position, basically ‘blipping’ the throttle for a smooth gear shifting experience. Besides enabling the driver to concentrate more on braking and steering, it also enhances the balance and smoothness of the car by cutting the characteristic ‘shock’ at the engagement of the clutch. The system comes with a deactivation button located next to the shifter for those who desire that vehicle intervention be reduced. The maximum potency of the car is reached at 7,400rpm and 276lb-ft (373Nm) of torque which it hits at 5,200rpm. More details and photos after the jump!
An exclusive H-configured exhaust system design and muffler tuning provides the extra power together with an optimized ECU. The car comes with improved chassis with stiffer strut tower bar brace and a couple of performance dampers. The regular double-wishbone and four-link suspension has also been particularly tuned for enhance handling and stability of the car. In contrast to the regular 370Z coupe, the rate of the front spring is 15%, with 105% for the rear spring, stabilizer bar at the front has been boosted to 15% and the stabilizer at the rear stiffer by 50%. Also increased are roll stiffness rate by 15% and front and back damping factors by 40% and 140% correspondingly.
Further elements consist of 14.0 inch brakes with enhanced four-piston aluminum calipers at the front and two-piston calipers at the back. To make it distinct from the regular version, the Nismo variant is equipped with a full body kit and bi-xenon headlamps. Offered color choices consist of Brilliant Silver, Pearl White, Magnetic Black , Platinum Graphite, and Solid Red. On the inside the logos of Nismo are located on the seats and tachometer as well as the sports steering wheel with leather and red stitching, and pedals trimmed in aluminum.
